Mukluk wanted some Raven

Poor Mukluk (He's the black dog) he was sneezing / coughing / wheezing from what sounded deep within his lungs. He was unable to stop and the usual rubbing of the throat that works for my other dog, Ootagoo was not working for Mukluk. I rummaged through my oils and grabbed the Raven which is good for respiratory issues. I opened the bottle and Mukluk came over to smell it. This is the first time he has done this. Then, to my surprise, he turned his body so I could apply the oil to the usual location for him which is between his shoulder blades. My mom and I were shocked!!! This is also a first for me :) Apparently, after smelling the oil Mukluk knew he needed / wanted that one. Usually we do a dance with the Lavender bottle at night when I want him to calm down and he isn't ready to sleep yet! A few sneeze / cough / wheezes later, he had stopped and didn't have another episode the rest of the night!  One happy momma right here!

Sore Throat help

This past weekend, I started to get a super sore throat. After a week in a new school and an evening of football I figured my immune system was a little weak. I had developed an annoying cough as well. I tried some water and some gum but neither worked. As soon as I was able to, I put a drop of Young Living Theives Essential Oil on my finger and rubbed it on the back of my tongue near my throat. It numbed my throat a little and allowed me to stop coughing. I didn't have a cough at all for the rest of the weekend.

Di-Gize for the little guy...and the human mommy!

I noticed Ootagoo had gotten fat over night! He has always had a small stomach and his ribs were visible but not protruding :) One morning I noticed he seemed to have gotten fat. I took him outside for a run, but he sat down and watched me as I disappeared out of sight. I went back to where I could see him and asked if he wanted to go for a walk, which usually gets him going, he still sat there watching me. I took notice throughout the day on how much he ate and drank....it was almost nothing. I decided to get out the Di-gize!!! Usually Ootagoo will try to get away when I get out an oil, but that day he laid down and rolled over as if he knew he was going to feel better after the application of this oil. I put 1 drop on my finger and rubbed it on his tummy. We sat around the bonfire for a few more hours and went to bed. The next morning, his belly was back to it's normal size and he was eating again! 

It never ceases to amaze me how these oils can help with anything I have needed them for. And the best part, I get to use them on myself too! After several trips to the bathroom today, I decided to apply some Di-gize to my tummy! About 20 minutes later, my urge to continually visit the bathroom disappeared!! The last time I had such a terrible stomach ache, I applied the oil to my stomach and 2 minutes later was running to the bathroom to flush my intestines....one time and I was feeling so much better!

Bug Bomb!!

I live in a rustic cabin deep in the woods of Minnesota. It is a common occurrence to see spiders and other critters in the unused areas, especially the porch. I did some digging and found a recipe of Young Living Essential Oils that have helped to keep those unwanted critters at bay!!

Essential Oils to avoid with pets.........

I have been increasing my knowledge of Essential Oils and have found many articles agreeing that the following list of essential oils should NOT be used on your pets........

*Anise
*Clove
*Hyssop
*Juniper
*Oregano
*Thyme
*Tansy
*Wintergreen

This is not an exhaustive list so please do your research before you apply an oil to your pet! Knowledge is power, but if used incorrectly, it can be very dangerous too!

My friend was telling me about how her doctor told her that is was normal for some people to not have a bowel movement for 12 days as this is an issue she has. I looked at her with a surprised face and asked if she has ever heard of colon cancer. The function of our bowels is to expel toxins our bodies don't need/use. If you are not having a regular bowel movement, those toxins are sitting in your colon for your body to absorb and could lead to other health issues. I gave her my bottle of Young Living Lemon Oil and told her to put one drop in a glass of water, in a glass cup, and drink it but to be near a bathroom as it should make her go! This thought scared her a bit so she didn't try it. She told her mom that she was scared to drink it but she loved the smell and sat at night watching TV smelling the oil and that she had a bowel movement every day since I gave her the oil. When I discovered this, I explained that there are 3 way to get the effects of Essential Oils.....1) aroma therapy, 2)topical application and 3) internal consumption so smelling the oil gave her the effect desired. 

A few days later she decided to put 2 drops on her wrist. About 20 minutes later she was running to the bathroom and said she had never "pooped that long!" I asked her to weigh herself and apply 2 drops daily for a week and weigh herself in a week. She is currently in the process of doing this so I will post her results later :)

I can't wait for her to try the oil internally and start to live a life not bloated from being constipated!!!
